BEYOND FIFTY SHADES AND FANTASY: WOMEN ADDICTED TO PORN @ Foothills Alliance Church
Mar 4 all-day

THIS WORKSHOP IS PART OF “BE READY-CALGARY” ADMISSION FOR THE FULL CONFERENCE IS REQUIRED.

Although porn is starting to be talked about more freely in Christian circles, a lot of porn’s victims are still abandoned. Porn is not just a guy problem- many girls and women use it too. Christian women who are addicted to porn are often drowning in secret shame, a secret addiction, and a belief that they are the only ones with this secret problem. Colette was one such woman. She shares her story of addiction, shame and recovery in order to help women find freedom. Many Christians are unaware that women struggle with porn and do not know how to help. If it is our aim to equip Christians to share the Gospel, we need to understand not only how to talk about this issue which is affecting so many Christian women – we need to learn how to address this topic with the world around us, a society that is often sex-obsessed.

Good Friday is the only day in the calendar year that is still only about Jesus. Acts 4:12 tells us salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. Therefore, there is No Other Name. No Other Name is a Youth Rally for grade 7-12 students, organized by a group of Youth Leaders in the greater Ottawa area, featuring amazing worship, an engaging speaker, mind-blowing entertainment, insane dodgeball, and exciting workshops!

About the Presenter

Josh Gilman – Executive Director: Strength To Fight

Josh Gilman is the Executive Director of Strength To Fight. His background is a blend of Ministry and Communications. He worked for 5 years in the Radio Industry, including spending several years as a News Anchor & Reporter. It was the brokenness he had to report on every day that lead him to leaving the media industry to go into ministry. After several years serving on staff at his local church, he spent 1 year in politics before the Lord led him to dive back into the brokenness two years ago by co-founding Strength To Fight, Canada’s only full-time anti-porn organization.

Josh lives in Ottawa with his amazing wife and their 3 children. A 3-year-old daughter, a 1-year-old son, and a new baby girl born this past February. He is determined to create a different internet for his kids than the one he grew up with.
